The United States Civil War has lots of interesting history and it helped shaped the country's future. During the 1700's and early 1800's the southern US states used slave labor to fuel their economy. The northern states were against slavery. Eventually the southern states broke away from the north and formed their own confederacy. The US civil war started in 1861 and lasted four years.
Abraham Lincoln was the president during the civil war. On January 1, 1863, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed the slaves in the southern states and laid the groundwork for slaves to eventually be freed across the country. They also used weapons like cannons, swords, knife and a rifles. Two third of the troops died because of disease
like infection, trypophobia and diarrhea.
